APNIC Training
and
APJII Open Policy Meeting (APM) 5
Indonesian Internet Service Provider Association
2006

INTRODUCTION

The growth and development of an organization is a continuing process, as the organization ages. The Indonesian Internet Service Provider Association, an organisation that assists Internet Service Providers in Indonesia, goes through the same phase. We surely hope that the process taken by APJII is a positive one, which leads to the improvement in striving for a condusive environment for various Internet-related business industry in Indonesia.

APJII is an organization appointed by APNIC to assign and allocate Internet Resources for ISPs and other organizations in Indonesia having the need for the Internet Resources. APJII also has the authority to create a mecanism to make or review the policies. This mecanism is meant to introduce the Indonesian internet community, and ISP in particular, to be acquainted with the current Operational Policy that has been approved or is being discussed by other internet communities.

Moreover, this forum is going to be toned up with various workshops relating to the operational technology of an ISP in order to increase the human resources’ competency of each ISP and trainings on effective internet resources management by APNIC, a body that allocates and assigns Internet Resources (IP Address and AS Number) in 62 countries in the Asia Pacific region. It has been planned that the workshops will be held every 6 months, concurrently with APJII Policy Meeting.

APJII as an organisation, sees the above conditions as obstacles for Internet companies, particularly APJII’s members, to develop their business. Therefore APJII always makes efforts to find various innovation and to achieve a good understanding on the Internet Community policies with our members, so that the Internet growth in Indonesia can always expand in a competitive and healthy business environment.

Through the APJII Policy Meeting (APM) we hope all of the mentioned goals could be achieved. In this meeting, beside reporting the annual Internet Resources activities performed by the secretariat, we also gather all inputs from our members concerning the technical actions to be taken by APJII and all its members in the next period in order to accommodate all APJII members’ needs.

Since 2002, APJII has provided a unique and successful educational forum for Internet builders in the region to learn from their peers and other leaders in the Internet community within the Indonesian region.
The key benefit in attending the APM is to spreading and sharing the knowledge required for the operational stability and development of the Internet within the Indonesian & the Asia Pacific region.

Year 2003, Total Attendees: 73 attendees from 55 ISP’s in Indonesia.
